We would like to encourage our 4-H'ers to continue their journey to becoming confident speakers and effective interviewees.
Please contact Cathy Sweet via email cjs58@cornell.edu with any questions or concerns and we can schedule your preferred avenue for presenting.
The Public Presentation Program is frequently referred to as “the most beneficial and rewarding experience of all 4-H experiences”. In addition to improving public speaking skills, public presentations give 4-H members an excellent opportunity to research a subject, organize ideas in logical order, develop visual aids and learn to speak effectively before groups. With each public presentation, there is an increase in self-confidence, poise, self-esteem, stage presence and knowledge. Public presentations can teach a 4-H’er life skills that will be useful in his or her future social, educational and career pursuits.
Beginners are encouraged to select simple topics with which they are extremely comfortable, so that the presentation process is the focus of their learning without the stress of learning about an unfamiliar topic.
As youth progress and grow each year, they are challenged to try one of the more difficult types of presentations, to use more advanced technology in their presentations where appropriate, and to venture into unfamiliar topics or presentation styles.
