Family Hiking Challenge

Hiking is basically going for a walk in nature. The terrain is not made of cement sidewalks but rather earth, rocks, brooks, tree roots and fluctuating changes in elevations.

We are offering a 2023 Family Hiking Challenge to families with youth ages of 5 through 18 as part of the Washington County Youth Sports & Recreation program. The Challenge has three steps: orientation, completion of 4 guided hikes, completion of 2 additional hikes plus submitting a hiking journal. 

Participating families receive a journal that includes the maps of the NINE TRAILS within Washington County.  Families can select to hike at a time convenient for them. Four of those hikes will be offered as guided hikes. All families that sign up and attend our orientation will receive some basic hiking swag. Additional hiking gear will be earned upon completion of the challenge. 

This Family Hiking Challenge runs July 1 – October 9, 2023. Virtual orientation is scheduled for Monday June 26 at 6:30 pm
