4-H Tractor Safety

2023 National Safe Tractor & Machinery Operation Program

Youth will:

  • Learn essential safety skills
  • Gain hands-on experience with tractor & skid steers
  • Earn their HOSTA safety certification once they pass the written, skills & tractor driving operation tests

Youth 14 & 15 years old are required to have a NSTMOP certificate when employed on farms & agribusinesses that include operating equipment. Youth participants must be at least 14 years old as of April 10.

March 30 - 6:00 pm Live virtual Orientation

April 7 - Online Homework due

April 14 - Online Written Test due

In-person sessions:

  • April 10 - Kinderhook Creek Farm tour & NYCAMH presentations
  • April 11 - Saratoga Sod Farm Tour, United Ag & Turf  TBA
  • April 12 - Falls Farm & Garden Presentation  TBA
    • Practice Driving and Skid Steer at Washington County Fairgrounds
  • April 15 - Skills Test & Driving Test

The fee is $30 for 4-H members and $35 for non-enrolled youth.
