4-H Tractor Safety

Washington County Fairgrounds day 2 & 3; farm visits in Rensselaer County on day 1

9 AM - 4 PM

New this year: participants must attend an orientation meeting in one of the host counties

National Safe Tractor & Machinery Operation Program & ATV Safety Workshop educates participants about:

  • Risks of farm related activities
  • How to act safely in different farm work settings
  • Identifying & correcting farm hazards to prevent injuries and illnesses
  • How to obtain safety information about equipment that they may be operating

Youth 14 and 15 years old are required to have a Tractor & Machinery Operation Certificate when employed on farms & other agribusinesses that require operating equipment.

Youth will receive a NSTMOP certificate once they pass the written & tractor operation tests.

Youth younger than 14 and working on the family farm or older than 15 are not required to take this course but are still welcome. Youth can also participate in the ATV safety portion of this workshop. There is a fee of $20.00 for enrolled 4-H members and $25.00 for non-members.
